Meet the PT

A doctor — and a dancer — driven to help you do what you love without the pain.

A letter from Dr. Millis

What if someone said you can no longer participate in the things you loved the most?

For some people it’s running or skiing or riding bikes. For me, it’s always been dance.

I've danced since I was 2 years old and have dealt with many different injuries, but never one that pulled me from an important performance. In college, I was preparing for our huge spring showcase when I landed a jump wrong and severely injured my ankle. I went to see a physical therapist, not wanting to miss the showcase and let my fellow dancers down, and I was told there was nothing they could do. They wrapped my ankle tight (I couldn't even move it!), put me on crutches, recommended ice and rest, and basically said "good luck and enjoy your summer."

Because of this life event, I changed majors and universities and decided to pursue PT. In studying Kinesiology and Physical Therapy, I learned that I could've danced in my showcase, based on my symptom presentation and the time I had to recover. I could have done what I loved.

After years of education and expertience, I built Excelerate PT to provide patients in the Greater Houston area and beyond with a very different physical therapy experience. We are mobile, and we pride ourselves on being available when and where we’re needed. We work one-on-one with our patients, and our customized approach allows them to recover fast and reduce the risk of future injury. And we specialize in treating dancers, gymnasts and performing artists — a community of athletes and artists we love to support.

Years after my injury, I’m still dancing. That’s what good physical therapy can do. Quality care keeps your body pain free, healthy and strong. And that’s what I want for you.

Thank you for reading, dance fam, and I’m excited to work with you!
